Too Faced ~ White Chocolate Chip Palette | Limited Edition / Sephora Exclusive

Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette
I hate writing negative reviews, I really really do. But sometimes, especially with the amount of cosmetics I buy, some items just don't quite cut it. In the case of the new Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette, it really missed the mark.

First off, I love a lot of Too Faced products. I have all the chocolate bar palettes, the PB&J palette, Sugar Pop palette, the Holiday 2016 Christmas in New York and Grand Hotel Cafe sets, multiple blushes, their Better Than Sex mascara, a plumping lipgloss and a handful of their Liquid Lipsticks. This is, sadly, the first TF product that I'll be returning.

The biggest gripe that I've been seeing is the size of the thing. If you did your research, you will know that the amount of product is a small amount. However, you know how your brain sometimes cannot comprehend the sheer volume of super duper large things? Like how large the sun actually is you have to google the size of the earth and then it shows that the sun is about 864,400 miles across. This is about 109 times the diameter of Earth. The Sun weighs about 333,0000 times as much as Earth. It is so large that about 1.3 million planet Earths can fit inside of it (yes I googled that shit). Well, I think it applies to this TF palette--you KNOW the actual size of the pans because you researched it, right? But your brain can't quite comprehend how small that actually is and what that looks like. I've included some pics below to help show the size. One is of my pinky finger nail, you can see each pan is just larger than it. One shows that the box the palette comes in is quite a bit larger than the actual palette. And if you're familiar with the size of Colourpop eyeshadow singles, the box is about 3 of those and the palette itself is smaller. I hope this is helpful.

It is tiny. I really wish they had made this one of their regular "tin" palettes. I just don't know why it needs to get smaller than that. Am I missing something? Those are pretty small, like, I travel quite a bit for work and sometimes for pleasure and I really don't need to go smaller than that. I've seen a handful of people who do like the mini size say it's perfect because it easily fits in a purse, but I'm unsure exactly why this is a need. Where is anyone going where they need to carry an eyeshadow palette in their purse to touch up their eye makeup? What primer are they using? I guess I just feel there is such a thing as "too mini" and to me, this palette definitely is. I want more, and I would pay for more, but they would need to step up the quality on this sad girl a bit too. The disappointment on this one is real because I so want to like it =(

Sizing of the pans aside, the swatches look decent, but even after swatching on my arm the product just underwhelms me which isn't what I want to feel when using any makeup product. The shades, while soft and light in coloration and hue, really have very little pigmentation on the eyes. The black is patchy and has glitter fallout, the mattes all look a bit too sheer (and I'm pretty fair in the wintertime), and the satins only really work if applied with a finger which I don't mind doing sometimes but the pans are so minuscule getting your finger in the pan is trying.

A lot of folks on Reddit are recommending the Boudoir Eyes palette over this one if you're wanting a palette that provides a nice, soft look. That palette has been on my "to buy" list for awhile so I'll be buying that instead, and highly recommend it over this. It's more expensive and you do get less shadows, but you get more product and the quality is much greater.

This product would be fine if Too Faced was starting a "tween intro to makeup" line, but not for those who generally buy their usual products and other high end brands in that price range. I will be returning this, and don't recommend it unless it really is exactly what you are looking for then I would pass.

It does, as always, smell deliciously like chocolate <3
