tarte ~ Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel | Sephora Exclusive / Limited Edition

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Palette Color Wheel

The winning product for Tarte this holiday season is, in my opinion, this Blush Palette Color Wheel . For $44, I think this is worth it, especially if blush is your thing or you want to experiment with various shades of blush without spending butt-loads on high end single compacts.

The biggest complaint I’ve seen on this item are 1) an expectation that each pan would be larger and 2) that the highlighters are only OK. So, let’s tackle those two items first!

Pan size: I really have no issue with the pan sizing. Each one is about between the size of a Sephora brand single blush and a Make Up For Ever single eyeshadow which, for eyeshadows, are quite large. I’m not sure why the expectation that each pan size in a palette would be the same size as a single compact but I will say that a product description with pan size information is usually provided and it would be smart to do research before buying a product and being disappointed.

Regarding the highlighters. Now, I have a little bit of a bone to pick with some complainers when it comes to highlighters as a general topic. There seems to be an assumption that whenever the term “highlight” is used to describe a product, the expectation is that the product is going to perform like a Becca or ABH Glow Kit. So I'll say right now that the highlighters in this Tarte palette are not going to perform the way the Becca or ABH ones do, but, they aren’t completely lacking either. I find they are more on the subtle and lightly glittery side, but they are still decent highlighters, especially if you aren't looking to drop almost $40 on highlighter. I personally would have preferred Tarte to have made 2 more blushes instead of highlighters as this is a blush palette, or even a bronzer would have made sense especially since people are so particular when it comes to highlighters having 2 maybe wasn't necessary.

The colors are nice. I'm not having any issues with colors lacking pigmentation, but do know that they are less pigmented than Tarte's single blushes, however, you can build them quite easily. Now I always go straight for the coral shades so I'll say right now that I love Deco, Mod, and while I didn't think I would love Culture I am really enjoying that shade for the Fall. Mix Culture with Mod a little and you get a nice Fall orange shade. From the other side I really like Icon and Montage and Ironic is a great shade I've been wearing a good amount this Fall.

Packaging: This is a great palette for traveling. The clasp to shut the case is something I have trouble opening sometimes so I definitely don't think it will just pop open in a bag. The case is pretty sturdy and I think it could withstand being dropped a few times. I'm not worried about mine breaking anytime soon. It is plastic though, not metal, which was a tiny bit disappointing as Tarte usually has pretty glamorous packaging. Not a huge deal in my book for this product though as I still kinda dig the packaging.

Overall, you aren’t buying this because of the highlighters and I can understand why they decided to include 2. I am enjoying this palette and while I probably won’t repurchase this simply because I have so much blush and because I doubt I will be anywhere close to running out by the time they stop producing it, I am tempted to order a second one if they happen to still be available in 4 or 5 months.
