Marc Jacobs Beauty ~ Holiday 2017 Collection
More holiday items!
This year, Marc Jacobs Beauty themed their entire holiday line with a wild animal theme which I absolutely love and require in my cosmetics collection. Needless to say, I bought almost the whole line. I've never had an issue with Marc Jacobs quality decreasing when holiday time comes around. Many companies use the strategy of targeting gift buyers during the holidays instead of the hardcore fans with substantial collections, so they decrease the quality and put extra emphasis on the packaging to attract gift buyers. Sure, it makes for a nice gift (and the packaging DOES always excite me), but more often than not, the quality just can't compete with the other items in my collection and these products end up getting shoved to the side. I haven't had this issue with Marc Jacobs which is why it's one of my all time favorite cosmetics companies.
Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara - Collector's Edition: The Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara is one of my top 5 favorite mascaras and even though I already have 2 full size tubes and a travel size floating around, I was definitely going to pick this one up because of the gorgeous packaging. I might get a second one! Yeah, I'll probably get a second one =P
This mascara applies evenly in rich black. A couple coats to apply and style my lashes and I'm good to go. It doesn't flake or fade, and while it's not waterproof I haven't had issues with it running.
Sonic Truth: Creamy nude
Infamous: Soft Peony
J'adore: Terra Cotta Blush
Goddess: Deep Maraschino
Currant Mood: Currant-Red

Snake Charmer High-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Collection: This is a set of mini glosses which offers a variety of different shades to play with. I love lip gloss. I have way too many and I wish I could wear them all at once (though that would be gross), but the formula of the Marc Jacobs glosses are really nice.
This set contains 5 mini glosses: 4 of the best selling glosses in the MJ Beauty line as well as one new, never released before shade:
Ch-ch-changes: Plum with a blue-green shift (new shade)
Sugar Sugar: Champagne-gold shimmer (a favorite lip gloss of mine)
Skin Deep: Opaque taupe-mauve (another favorite lip gloss of mine)
Raspberry Beret: Opaque raspberry-plum
Boys Don't Cry: Opaque grape-purple
Personally, I wish the set had nixed one of the purples and added in a red or deep burgundy shade instead. Two purples is just a little overkill I think, but I still bought it because I do occasionally wear purple on my lips.
Apparently the set is also mint-scented!
Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick Collector's Edition: Sephora worked with many brands they carry online and in stores in creating a series of holiday lipsticks with unique packaging, exclusive to Sephora. Marc Jacobs Beauty created a Limited Edition leopard print case to match the aesthetic of all their holiday products this year. The lipstick itself is also limited; a rose-bud pink in the Le Marc cream formula.
T -B: Sugar Sugar, Skin Deep, Raspberry Beret, Boys Don't Cry, Ch-ch-changes, LE Lip Creme Lipstick (see below) |
Here I am wearing the lipstick. It's a basic shade, nothing as wild as the packaging so it should be wearable for a lot of people. I love nude shades like this and wear them regularly.
Only a few of the Holiday lipsticks have been released so far but as all of the Holiday stuff is beginning to drop, we can expect more soon!

The Wild One Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette: Marc Jacobs Beauty has released 20-pan eye shadow palettes for the past few years. Packaging aside, this thing is fabulous looking in all its jungle-themed glory. I bought the 20-pan version last year and it's actually the palette that got me hooked on the Marc Jacobs Beauty eye shadow formula. I was hesitant at first when I bought last year's palette because I was so disappointed in many of the other holiday palettes I had picked up (erm, Tarte and Too Faced), but this one proved to be a keeper and I use it quite a lot. For $5 per eye shadow, it's not a bad deal if you're attracted to the colors.
