A Romantic Review of the Viseart Tryst Palette

Hello again and happy March! I've finally been able to use the new Tryst palette from Viseart. This is the follow-up to their Golden Hour palette. Tryst is a romantic, warm-toned palette featuring rose and purple hues. It comes in a sturdy case that's perfect for traveling (it also includes a mirror!)

Right now it's only available on Beautylish and I believe it's Limited Edition

You get 9 shades totaling 0.49oz:

  • Dangereuse: warm peach with a matte finish
  • Rendezvous: pink champagne with a shimmer finish
  • Flirt: light tan bronze with a shimmer finish
  • Liaison: warm pink with a matte finish
  • Darling: peachy rose gold with a shimmer finish
  • Illicit: deep merlot with a matte finish
  • Paramour: rusty copper with a shimmer finish
  • Seduction: golden copper with a shimmer finish
  • Rapture: red plum with a shimmer finish

I didn't purchase Viseart's Golden Hour palette so I can't compare quality-wise, but this palette is wonderful and will make for a fitting travel companion.

The packaging is sturdy. I could probably hit this thing with a lead pipe and it would come out in one piece, shadows intact. You could probably also knock someone out if you throw it like a Chinese Throwing Star, ya know, if you ever needed to. It's quite durable which I appreciate in a sea of cardboard packaging.

The shades are different enough that there is variety even though they are all of similar tones. The descriptions provided on Beautylist are above. My own descriptions are: a light pink matte, a deeper pink matte, a shell pink shimmer, a light gold pink shimmer, a silvery-gold shimmer, a rose shimmer, a rose gold with a slight orange tint shimmer, a purple shimmer, and a brown matte with a teeny tiny bit of sparkle in it. This dark brown "merlot" shade, "Illicit", didn't pose any difficulties when applying even though there are some sparkle flecks present.

The other two mattes are nice and soft and work well together or separately. They do have some kick up in the pan ("Illicit" does not). I've been using either of these pinky matte shades as transition or crease shades with "Illicit" in the outer V and any of the shimmers on the lid. The lighter shimmer shades make for stunning inner corner highlights, and the lightest shade makes for a lovely shell pink highlight under the brow bone which only adds to the romance of any look.

The shimmers aren't gritty. They aren't pressed too loosely or too densely in the pan and are picked up easily with a brush. They are quite smooth and buttery; some of them are almost cream-like. As usual, I apply shimmers with my finger but I've started to apply more with a flat brush sprayed with my Nyx setting spray (this product works the same as MAC Fix+ for applying shadow but costs much less). These do apply nicely both ways.

You can create a look using just two shades at a time or five of them; there are lots of workable possibilities here. You could even use just two shimmers; sweep a lighter shade in the crease and a darker one on the lid. Super easy and takes about 12 seconds to do.

As a redhead, these shades look quite phenomenal with my hair and skin tone, but these shades should work for many other skin tones as well, fair to dark or in between. The matte shades may need to be packed on a little extra for deeper skin tones, but the shimmers should show up nicely.
