Guerlain ~ La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lipstick | Review

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lipstick in 002 "Pink Tie" & Lip & Cheek Tint
My other Guerlain purchase was this deliciously pretty lipstick at the bottom of this pic in shade 002 called "Pink Tie" (click here for my review of the Lip & Cheek Tint). Deliciously shiny, this is another pure luxury buy. It's a bright. medium pink with cool pink undertones and a pearly sheen. A shiny, pinky-raspberry is how I'd describe it. I kind of adore this one. And the packaging?! I mean come on. While I wouldn't want this banging around in my purse, it's definitely all kinds of eye candy.

The description on Sephora.com reads: "to create a sheer, bright, or bold look with one, two, or three coats of color, respectively. Its floral, fruity fragrance and exquisite color payoff pair with a thin, lightweight texture for the ultimate in layered comfort and wear. Guerlain experts carefully select shades in the purest forms, with regalite—the resin known to attract light and create pure, unfiltered pigment for impressive results."

The product itself feels like a lip balm, if you're familiar with the YSL Rouge Volupte formula, it feels like that but less buttery, less oily, and more like a cream lipstick; somewhere in between those on the lipstick spectrum. The staying power is about the same; you will need to reapply if you eat/drink but as it's more balmy, you can slide it around between your lips throughout the day. It will also leave a nice, raspberry-pinky hue behind on your lips once it fades. I read Temptalia's review of the product before I bought it (see her review here) and my experience was a bit different (just goes to show that products work differently for everyone!. I don't find this product to emphasize any lines on my lips and they do feel soft when wearing it. Not soft to the extent that a hydrating lip balm would, but my lips do feel soft when wearing it. I didn't find the consistency to feel "thin" either. It's a sheer application and feels light on the lips but I didn't feel that it was "thin".

I have similar feelings about this one as I do the Lip & Cheek Tint. Do you need it? No, you're paying for packaging and a very nice, balmy, shiny lipstick. Can you get something similar from other brands? Absolutely. I'm sure there's a couple Sheer Creamy formula shades in the Urban Decay Vice line; PDA in that line seems like it might be a suitable dupe (more creamy, less shiny, but no pearlized finish).
